Fresh ideas and wild passion from Miyazaki
In the highland forests of Miyazaki, Japan, there grows a tea unlike any other. Known as Yamacha or mountain tea, it thrives naturally, untouched by conventional cultivation methods. Each leaf is handpicked by skilled tea artisans in the fall and winter months, then processed using the ancient Kamairi technique—a method of pan-frying tea leaves that predates the more common steaming process in Japan.
The story of Yamacha began with two friends, Noboru and Kazuhiro, united by their love for the natural beauty of Miyazaki. During a hike, Noboru discovered wild tea leaves flourishing in the forest, part of a long-standing local tradition of small-batch, homemade tea. With the expertise of Yoichi Korogi, they transformed these wild leaves into something truly special, preserving the heritage of the pan-fried method known as Kamairi.
Their vision has grown into more than just tea. They’ve built a community initiative that creates jobs and revitalizes a region impacted by urban migration. Their work supports not only the tea industry but also the culture and environment of Miyazaki. We are proud to stand by Noboru and Kazuhiro, supporting their mission to bring positive change through their passion.

My husband purchased this Yamacha for us to try for the first time and we absolutely love it. It's perfect for this fall weather we are now approaching, sitting out in the cool weather and enjoying the warm pan-fired aromas of this truly unique tea. I love that it's handpicked and harvested with everything in it that nature offers.

I had never tasted Yamacha before trying this one, so I didn't quite know what to expect. But I loved the concept of hand-picked and wild-harvested tea from Japan's pristine forests! This tea is pan-fired which really brings out its aroma profile. Think less-vegetal, more toasty. Fans of some of the finest Chinese teas will surely love this offering. It quickly became a favourite for me, perfect for the autumn weather!

Delicious!! Different from Sencha but the sophisticated flavors make this a perfect tea to drink when it starts getting cold outside. Highly recommend!
